Two Bundaberg local students have outshone their peers and secured valuable paid work experience as part of Ulton’s vacation program.

The successful grade 12 applicants, Alice Darlison of Bundaberg State High School and Nathan Millis of St Luke’s Anglican College commenced their two week, full time placement during the school holidays from 24 September.

Ulton Human Resources Manager, Ammie Cauchi said Ulton’s vacation program has been running for two years placing both High School and University students, giving them hands-on exposure at a Trainee Accountant level.

"Over the course of their placement, Alice and Nathan experienced first-hand what it would be like to start their career in a leading professional services firm. They were exposed to real projects across a variety of Ulton’s service areas”, Mrs Cauchi said.

Throughout the course of the vacation program, students observe high-level technical advisory work being undertaken, and how Ulton’s administrative personnel bring the big picture together.

Vacation program applications for University students have now closed and the interview process has begun.

"We’ve received 14 University applications from students studying Accounting or Financial Planning in Bundaberg or Brisbane. Only four of these 14 applicants will be placed between October 2018 to February 2019”, Mrs Cauchi said.

Both High School and University placed vacation program students have the opportunity to apply for a permanent full-time, Accounting Traineeship at Ulton commencing in 2019.
