Seamless BAS integration: ATO prefills Single Touch Payroll data

Written by Daryl Corpe | Sep 20, 2023 5:48:29 AM

From the 1 July 2023 your wages data collated from your Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgments will be prefilled into your activity statements when lodging through the ATO online services portals.

The payment date on your STP reporting will determine which activity statement the wages and PAYG withholding amounts will be allocated to. Note that an update event will not alter the figures prefilled into an activity statement as this event only corrects your employee’s year to date figures.

As activity statements are available online prior to the end of the reporting period the amounts prefilled will be the latest amounts reported through STP. The pre-filled amount will be updated each time a STP report is lodged with a payment date in the same activity statement period, until the activity statements has been saved or lodged. If you have saved your activity statement and there has been new STP data reported, the ATO will alert you the next time you view the statement so that the amounts can be corrected if required.

While you can manually alter the prefilling amounts, the ATO have indicated where there are significant differences between the STP reporting and the amounts reported on the activity statements, they may contact you for supporting evidence.
