Mark McLean CA

Mark McLean joined Ulton as a Graduate Accountant in 1990 after graduating from the Queensland University of Technology. He progressed through the firm to become a Manager then became a Chartered Accountant in 1997. Mark made further progression through the firm in 1998, becoming a Partner. Mark's grounding was in the area of Business Services, undertaking responsibilities including budgets and cash flow projections, tax planning and general business advice for clients. More recently Mark has been involved in business development and financial modelling and works closely with clients in reviewing business performance on a regular basis and indentifying opportunities to increase business profitability.

As a Senior Partner, Mark is a pivotal leader in the administration of the firm and oversees the running of the Administration teams. Mark has also been responsible for the firm’s expanded geographic client base in Central and South East Queensland as well as other areas of the state.

Mark was fundamental in the reinstatement of the Bundaberg Race Courses’ licence, so racing could continue in Bundaberg. Due to his heavy involvement and commitment to the club, Mark is now the president of the Bundaberg Race Club. Consequently, it’s no surprise that Mark’s leisure activities include horse racing and is the owner of Race Horses. Mark also enjoys keeping active by bike riding. In 2010 Mark and fellow Ulton Partner Karl Brosnan embarked on the BCI Ride West 1000 charity bike ride from Brisbane to Longreach in aid of the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS). They rode more than 1000km between them.

Mark’s key motivator in his job is to ensure that all clients achieve their goals, by maximising their personal wealth as a result of running a better business. He enjoys the relationships that have developed through working closely with these businesses and have gained some great personal friends from these networks. Mark’s second work motivator is seeing the Ulton Team work together in a professional environment, which allows them to achieve maximum potential for themselves both personally and professionally.
